Louisiana High School Football Class 4A Opening Round Preview

It’s playoff time in Louisiana with 32 teams in Class 4A punching their ticket to the postseason. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has already knocked out the No. 32 seed Woodlawn-Shreveport which gives No. 1 Carencro a first-round bye hosting the winner of the No. 16 seed DeRidder vs. No. 17 Lakeshore game in the second round.
In 2019 Edna Karr won another state title as the No. 3 seed, but this year the Cougars earned the No. 2 seed drawing No. 31 A.J. Ellender. Rounding out the top five seeds are Tioga, Neville, and Leesville in that order.
Among the rosters of these playoff squads are several seniors who have already committed to play at the collegiate level and are ready to lead their teams in the postseason for a final time. These players include Landry-Walker receiver Cyrus Allen (Louisiana Tech), Warren Easton receiver Casey Cain (Texas), Edna Karr offensive tackle Kenneth Bannister (Louisiana Tech), Carencro running back Kendrell Williams (Louisiana-Lafayette), Landry-Walker linebacker Josh Bertholotte (Hawaii), Carencro cornerback Bailey Despanie (Tulane), and Edna Karr defensive end Karl Odrick (Ball State).
There are some great matchups this Friday in this bracket and fans should flock to the stadiums to support and cheer on their favorite teams and players. It will be exciting to watch as this bracket unfolds in the coming weeks.
