Louisiana High School Football Week Nine Recap

Byrd Yellow Jackets (8-1, 4-1) 35, Airline Vikings (7-2, 3-2) 21
After receiving a ruling about their playoff ineligibility earlier in the day, the Yellow Jackets came out with a vengeance against Airline. Byrd got out to a 21-6 lead until the Vikings tied it up early in the fourth quarter. After the Yellow Jackets took a 28-21 lead, Airline was driving to try and tie it back up unfortunately Luther Dallas intercepted a Vikings pass to ice the game for the Yellow Jackets.

Byrd was led by running back Tray Allen who had 99 yards on 13 carries and senior wide receiver Joey Jernigan who had 88 rushing yards and 87 receiving yards and two total touchdowns.

Airline was once again led by senior running back Shun’cee Thomas who had 111 yards on 22 carries and one touchdowns. Vikings quarterback Thomas McKain completed 19 of 32 passes for 223 yards and one interception.

Minden Crimson Tide (7-2, 5-1) 43, North DeSoto Griffins (7-2, 4-2) 40
In the most exciting game in Northwest Louisiana, Minden went to North DeSoto and escaped with a huge win to claim sole possession of second place in District 1-4A. The Crimson Tide used their exciting offense to get to out to 14-0 lead after one quarter and held off a late Griffins rally in the fourth quarter to clinch the victory.

Minden was led by senior star L’Jarius Sneed who had 66 rushing yards, 99 receiving yards and three total touchdowns. Crimson Tide quarterback Antonio Rivette ran for 161 yards, threw for 143 yards and scored the team’s other three touchdowns.

North DeSoto was led by quarterback Kyler Radford who threw for 146 yards, ran for 119 yards and accounted for three touchdowns. Griffins running back Delmonte Hall had 86 rushing yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns.
