Calvary Baptist got off to a great start as Andraez Williams, a LSU commit, returned the opening kickoff 90-yards for a touchdown. The Cavaliers played well with the Byrd Yellow Jackets through the first half as the teams went to the locker room tied at 14.

In the second half Byrd’s rushing attack exploded past Calvary’s defense for 35 points.  It was the second consecutive game that Byrd did not complete a pass and all their offense came on the ground. The Yellow Jackets finished with 449 yards of offense. Running back Tray Allen led Byrd with 185 rushing yards on 24 carries and one touchdown. Quarterback Deuce Caston had 87 rushing yards on 11 carries and three touchdowns.

North DeSoto 42, Many 40
In a highly anticipated matchup, 4A North DeSoto Griffins hosted the 2014 2A state champions, the Many Tigers. Many people were expecting a defensive battle but it was the offenses which shined.
Both teams went back and forth all evening with North DeSoto building up a 42-26 lead late in the third quarter.

Many’s quarterback Tabarious Garner led the Tigers on two touchdown drives to close the gap to two points. Garner connected with James Carhee on a 37-yarder with just under five minutes left in the game to make it 42-40.

In the win, Griffin’s quarterback Kyler Bradford threw for three touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns. North DeSoto’s running Delmonte Hall finished with 227 total yards which were evenly split between rushing and receiving. Hall also had one rushing touchdown.

After the two early scores, the game belonged to Airline running back Shun’cee Thomas. Thomas ran for an incredible 225 yards on 36 carries and three touchdowns.
