In 2014, the Denham Springs Yellow Jackets in Denham Springs, Louisiana, finished with a 7-5 record and reached the second round of the playoffs. Going into the 2015 season expectations were high as the team was returning senior quarterback Torez Kinchen who had been the starter since halfway through his sophomore season.

Kinchen led Denham Springs to a 4-4 through the first eight games and then on senior night on Oct. 30 against Walker, the senior leader was running to gain a first down and hurt his AC joint in his shoulder as he was being tackled. The AC joint is the joint in the shoulder where the collar-bone meets the shoulder. Unfortunately, the injury knocked him out the lineup for the rest of the year. The Yellow Jackets still managed to make the playoffs but lost in the first round to Destrehan 44-23 finishing the year with a 5-6 record.

Despite missing the last two and a half games of his senior season, Kinchen still managed to put up some great numbers. The 6’2”, 205 pound, quarterback threw for 1,111 yards, 13 touchdowns, and just three interceptions in the eight games he played in before his injury.

Kinchen attended two college camps during the summer before his senior season and is receiving interest from three schools including Central Arkansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Southern.

His high school career may be over but that is not hindering Kinchen from working hard to rehab his shoulder and fulfill his dreams of playing college football.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Torez to talk about his career at Denham Springs and his recruiting process.
