No matter how one views the commitment, Louisiana Tech got a steal out of the 2017 class on Monday with the verbal pledge of cornerback/athlete Amik Robertson.

Robertson started jumping on college recruiting boards after his stellar play on the field against Louisiana 5A competition during his junior season. The Thibodaux standout was used all over the field at wide receiver, punt returner, and corner showcasing his 4.41 playmaking speed. If the ball is in his hands on offense or there is a 50/50 ball thrown in his direction at corner, a play was always seemingly made by Robertson.

Even with 12 reported offers on the table, much of Robertson’s recruiting has been under the radar. The Bulldogs were able to fend off teams like Kansas State, Arizona, Texas-San Antonio, Colorado State, Louisiana-Monroe, Tulane, Nicholls State, Toledo, Arkansas State, and Cincinnati for Robertson’s commitment.

The Bulldogs now have eight verbal commitments to their 2017 class highlighted by Robertson.

Robertson and the Tigers are off to a 1-1 start this season dropping the season opener to St. Charles Catholic but rebounded for a big 45-24 win against East Ascension.
