Head Coach: David Brewerton
Mascot: Broncos
2014: 13-2
Location: Zachary, Louisiana

Overview
It was a successful first season for the Broncos under David Brewerton. Zachary had one of their best seasons in school history and advanced to the state semifinals where the Broncos suffered a heartbreaking 9-3 loss to eventual champion Acadiana. Zachary’s other loss was a 24-21 setback against Byrd in Week 2 before rattling off 12 straight wins on their way to their semifinal appearance.

The Broncos bring back the majority of their team from last year including dual-threat quarterback Lindsey Scott and linebacker Donovan Perkins. Zachary is one of the favorites to win the state championship in 2015.

Two key games for the Broncos are when they host Catholic-Baton Rouge on Sept. 11 and when they travel to Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport on Sept. 25. The game at Calvary Baptist will be televised on ESPNU.

Offense
The Broncos averaged just under 40 points a game in 2014 and return most of their starters. Senior quarterback Lindsey Scott threw for 2,231 yards with 24 touchdowns and rushed for 965 yards and 15 more touchdowns. The 6’0″, 205 pound, leader has six Division-I offers at this time including Air Force, Army, and Navy.

Along with Scott, Zachary has three more explosive and athletic weapons in their arsenal including senior running back Terry Sullivan and wide receivers senior Douglas Coleman and junior Shyron White. Coleman had 852 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 2014.

The main man on the offensive line will be senior Kellton Hollins (6’2″, 291). Hollins committed to TCU on June 8 and has his eyes set on having a monster senior season.

Defense
The most points the Zachary defense gave up in a single game in 2014 was 28 against Plaquemine and on average only gave up 16 points a game. The Broncos secondary is full of talent. Seniors Tyren Shelton (5’10”, 180) and P.J. Cannon (5’9″, 170) will hold down the cornerback positions. Junior Jarred Hopkins excels at the safety position.

The leader of the linebackers is junior Donavon Perkins (5’11”, 225). Perkins had 101 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, four sacks and was selected first-team All-District and All-State honorable mention in his sophomore season. One of the leaders on the defensive line will be senior Darryl Brown (5’10”, 235). Brown had 56 tackles and six sacks in his junior season.
