The heat was on for LSU to find a quarterback for their 2016 haul, and one came with a couple of days to spare from in-state talent Lindsey Scott.

Hard to argue on the field success, and that is exactly what Scott has provided for Zachary High School over the past two seasons. The Broncos went 14-2 in 2014 losing 9-3 to eventual state champs Acadiana in the state semifinal round. Scott threw for 2,231 yards with 24 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He flashed speed and great field vision rushing for 965 yards, a team-high, and found the end zone another 15 times.

In 2015, Zachary was once again among the best teams in the state, and thanks in large part to their dynamic signal caller. The Broncos ended the season as all teams want to do, with a win topping John Ehret 46-12 for Louisiana state honors. Their 5’11”, 205 pound, dual-threat was back at it bettering his junior season with 3,040 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, and just five picks. He also rushed for an eye popping 1,963 yards off 220 carries with 28 additional scores averaging 130.9 yards per game rushing.

The win for LSU was a loss for Syracuse. The Orange had been on the Zachary area talent long ahead of most. Scott was pushing 20 total offers but had opened his recruitment back up. On Jan. 17, he decommitted from Syracuse going on official visits to Tulane (Jan. 15), Maryland (Jan. 22), Rutgers (Jan. 24), and wrapped up his visits heading to Baton Rouge (Jan. 29).

The Tigers now have 23 verbal commitments holding two spots open for in-state guys like CB Kristian Fulton, DT D’andre Christmas-Giles, WR Mykel Jones, and DB Shyheim Cater.
