The secret is slowly creeping out on Southwind High School defensive end Jordan Davis. The Class of 2018 recruit has just one offer for now from Memphis, but top teams like Clemson, Ole Miss, Louisville, Florida State, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky are starting to show more and more interest. Over the weekend the 6-5, 245 pound, rising star took an unofficial visit to Alabama, something sure to catch the eye of Division-I teams throughout the region.

In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I caught up with Davis after his trip to Tuscaloosa to get the inside scoop on how everything went for the Memphis area recruit.

Interview

Jordan, how did the trip to Alabama go?

“The visit went really well. I loved the environment and the atmosphere there.”

What all did you do during your visit?

“Before the game we spoke to the coaches and then went onto the field to watch the players warmup. After the warmup, one of Coach (Nick) Saban’s (head coach) assistants said he wanted to talk to me after the big game (vs. Mississippi State). After the game we met with the coaches and then went on an unofficial visit. We toured the facilities, locker room, and all of that. They asked me for my height and weight, things like that.”

Did you get to meet Coach Saban?

“Yes, sir. He came over to me after the game. All the coaches talked to me when I was there.”

What did Coach Saban say to you?

“The first thing he said was ‘oh wow.’ He asked how I am doing. He said, “You are a really big kid.” All the coaches were saying ‘we got to have him.’ I told him that I promise I will work to get to the next level.”

What did the various coaches talk about with you?

“The main thing they told me, after talking to me in general, was get your grades. That is something I am going to focus on even more now. I’ve been getting ready for the ACT.”

How does a visit to the defending national champs, the current No. 1 team in the country, motivate you going forward?

“It will motivate me in the classroom. It will increase my workouts, after school tutoring, and studying overall. It helped me know that I am a great athlete and I cannot pass up an opportunity.”

You said you loved the atmosphere there. What did you think of the fan base?

“I loved-loved the fans. When we were leaving after the game, I had kids coming up asking me to sign a football. People kept asking me if I was coming to Alabama to play. The fans showed so much love even though I am not in the program yet. I loved it.”

Who went with you on the visit?

“One of my coaches and one of my teammates.”

Do you plan to visit Alabama again, and if so, when?

“Yes, sir. Most definitely. We’ll try to make the spring game. I already talked to my godfather about taking me down there. We’ll try to make it to the spring game.”

Do you have another visit scheduled?

“I’m not sure yet. I have some invites but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to attend any games or make some of the trips.”

If it were to work out, where might you go?

“I’m planning on visiting Florida, East Carolina, and Memphis again.”

Jordan, thanks for your time today. Congratulations on a successful visit to Alabama.

“Thank you.”
