Activity on the recruiting trail is starting to pick up again for Miami again adding their second verbal commit in less than two weeks when four-star linebacker De’Andre Wilder pledged to the Canes.

Wilder is a big addition to Miami’s class adding an active outside linebacker to the mix. Miami Carol City High School positioned Wilder for 64 tackles, 14 sacks, and four fumble recoveries during his junior season. The Chiefs are off to a 6-3 mark with their standout linebacker continuing to receive attention from colleges across the country.

Wider was in the neighborhood of 30 scholarship offers when he committed to Miami. Among the many to drop an offer included Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU, Louisville, Cal, Michigan, Utah, South Florida, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Michigan State. Another scholarship extension came from Auburn, a school the 6-2, 204 pound, linebacker took several unofficial visits to over the summer and into the 2016 season.

Miami fans found out about his commitment Thursday night with a released videotaped interview before the Chiefs 45-0 win over American High School (Hialeah).

Miami had slowed things down on the recruiting trail after a busy summer. The Canes picked up three on Aug. 7 when Bradley Jennings Jr., Jonathan Garvin, and Trajan Bandy joined the class but all was quiet until safety Amari Carter committed on Oct. 21.

247Sports rates Miami’s class No. 13 in the nation, No. 3 overall in the ACC, while Rivals ranks the class No. 10 in the country with five four-star recruits.
