The Miami recruiting train continued to roll picking up their fifteenth commitment in the 2017 class on Monday when Zach Dykstra pledged to the Hurricanes.

The courtship between Miami and Dykstra did not take long. The 6’6”, 290 pound, offensive tackle had offers from Southern Miss, South Dakota State, Colorado State and from in-state Division-I schools Iowa and Iowa State. The Spirit Lake rising star had attended a Junior Day at Iowa State (Feb. 13) and received an offer from Iowa on March 6 during a visit to the Hawkeyes.

The recruitment process for the Cyclones and Hawkeyes changed drastically when Dykstra visited Miami on March 24 receiving an offer at that time. One more visit to Iowa State (April 2) to help mull over the decision put the Canes out in front for an April 11 early morning commitment.

Dykstra made his decision public via Twitter posting, “I’m very excited to announce that I have committed to play football at the University of Miami! #the U.”

Miami has put together a solid class of players the staff believes in despite recruiting rankings. Five of the 15 have received 4-star status per 247Sports; OT Navaughn Donaldson, RB Robert Burns, DE Jonathan Ford, QB N’Kosi Perry, and WR Rodney Scott.
