Michigan added another big recruit to their 2016 class on Saturday landing highly regarded defensive tackle Jordan Elliott out of Houston, Texas.

Elliott became a “must get” for college football coaches after a standout junior season registering 78 tackles, 12 sacks, and 31 tackles for a loss with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Stats for his senior year at Westside High School seem incomplete but the 6’4”, 300 pound, gap filler has been credited for 30 solo tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, and four sacks in eight games played.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl selection has 40 scholarship offers on the table from teams like Alabama, Cal, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Oregon, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. Nebraska, Oklahoma, Baylor, and Michigan were able to secure official visits with Elliot with the Wolverines wrapping up Elliott during an official for the Ohio State game on Saturday.

Elliott made his commitment official on Twitter giving an apology to the University of Texas writing, “For the past several months I have cultivated strong relationships with both the UT (Texas) staff as well as the Michigan staff. After extensive research and after sitting down with my family to look at all possible scenarios, I have made my final decision to further my educations and football career at the University of Michigan!! I have felt this way for some time now and I am truly excited to make it known… Coach Strong and Coach Vaughn, I am deeply sorry but I do appreciated all of the love you have shown to me and my family. In my heart, I know that Michigan is the place for me.. Time to work—Go Blue.”

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is close to filling in his first true recruiting class with nearly a full year of hitting high schools across the nation. The results for Harbaugh and company have been great thus far with nine of the 22 verbal commitments being 4-star players. A big win for the Wolverines with top talent has been along the offensive line with Ben Bredeson (Arrowhead HS, WI), Devery Hamilton (Gilman School, MD), Erik Swenson (Downers Grove South HS, IL), and Michael Onwenu (Cass Tech HS, MI). The Wolverines have landed verbal commitments from 12 different states showing a willingness to go anywhere to pull talent back to Ann Harbor.
