It is easy to see, the skills and athleticism are developing for Malachi Miller. The Mill Creek High School (Hoschton, Ga.) talent is that instant offense piece who adds versatility coming out of the backfield as a scat-back, lining up in the slot, or deep returning kicks, and even gets time in the secondary. The evolving abilities were on display at the Southern Exposure Camp held at Central Gwinnett High School. Miller left the field with Offensive MVP honors.

When the Friday night lights turn on for the 2023 schedule, the Hawks have the varsity starter integrated into their offensive scheme.

“I will mostly be at slot receiver this year, sometimes they will have me at safety, and I will roll here and there at running back,” Miller said.

Miller continued, “We are a running offense with RPO (run-pass option),” Miller stated. “They are using me on short routes like outs, some deep routes like posts or go routes, and on some jet sweeps to both sides of the field.”

The speed is on track with his development, “My 40-yard time is a 4.53 and my 100-meter time is 11.19.”

Before turning heads in Georgia at the Southern Exposure Camp, Miller was in the lab.

“I have been working on my footwork, being more explosive, and getting in and out of my breaks,” Miller shared. “I’m a lot faster now getting out of my breaks.”

The award winner gave details from the Saturday, July 29, camp, “It went pretty well. I got better. At the camp I showcased my skills. I got to see the different types of DBs, and I saw different ways to run routes.”

Miller continued, “We ran routes on air, then we did one-on-ones; I did well. I caught all my passes, then in 7-on-7 I caught one touchdown in the first half.”

Mill Creek opens their 2023 season on Saturday, Aug. 19, against North Gwinnett.
