Mississippi State added their fifteenth verbal commitment to the 2017 class on Monday pulling in three-star Tennessee cornerback/free safety Landon Guidry.

Guidry heads into his senior season with a wealth of experience after helping Independence High School to a 5A state championship in 2015 (15-0). The 6’1”, 185 pound, defensive back secured 80 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, a sack, a quarterback hurry, forced a fumble, picked up three loose balls, defended two passes, and picked one off as a junior. Guidry helped the Eagles in all three phases fielding five kickoffs for 133 yards on special teams and carried the rock 16 times for 185 yards on offense.

The all-around athlete had double-digit offers by the time he committed to Mississippi State with Arkansas State, Mercer, Western Kentucky, Toledo, Southern Miss, Cincinnati, Memphis, and Vanderbilt being among the many hoping to land the Thompson’s Station area product.

The Bulldogs have been extremely busy on the recruiting trail since late March picking up 10 verbal commitments. Guidry is the third defensive back MSU has accepted a commitment from joining cornerbacks Emanuel Dabney and Tyler Williams.
