Missouri Football: Interview with Fort Osage 2020 LB Dakota Robertson

Independence’s (MO) Fort Osage High School is coming off a fantastic season making an appearance in the 5A state championship game. With an eye on taking that next step by bring home that trophy in 2019, one of the returning stars who can help take the Indians to the promised land is senior linebacker Dakota Robertson.

The 6-3, 215-pound, playmaker had 61 total tackles including 16 for a loss and nine sacks during his junior campaign earning second team All-Conference honors after the season. Robertson has picked up where he left in 2018 making big plays during his first two games in 2019. The Class of 2020 prospect is drawing interest from several local schools after college coaches saw him in person at several collegiate camps this summer.

With the goal of bringing home a state title, Robertson is determined to play hard and lead his Indians throughout the season as they gun for another deep postseason run in 2019. In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Dakota to discuss his high school career and his recruiting process.

Interview

First off, what are your thoughts on your individual performance in your first two games this year?

“I feel like all round I have played pretty well. In my first game, I had five solo tackles, four tackles for losses, and one sack. In my second game, I had a pretty decent game but I feel as if I still have room for improvement. I’m going to do whatever I have to do to be a leader for the defense.”

What are your strengths on the football field?

“I am good at pass rushing and getting in the quarterbacks face. I can play defensive end and linebacker. I am quick off the edge, I read my keys and get the job done, and fly to the ball.”

Did you receive any individual honors last season?

“Yes. I received second team All-Conference.”

What was your most memorable moment in your junior season?

“Playing in the state game with my brother.”

Are there schools showing you interest?

“Honestly, I have had a few colleges interested but not many yet.”

Did you attend any college camps this past summer?

“Yes. I attended the Northwest Missouri State, University of Northern Iowa camp, the Six-Star football camp, and 810 varsity camp.”

What was your favorite camp and why?

“The University of Northern Iowa camp was my favorite because the facility was unbelievable and the coaches were great.”

What did you work on the most this offseason?

“I worked on getting bigger, faster, and stronger.”

Is there a current NFL player that you like to compare yourself too?

“Von Miller.”

What are your individual and team goals for your senior season?

“My goals this season are to get first-team All-State and to go to state.”

What game left on the schedule are you most looking forward to playing?

“I am looking forward to playing everyone on our schedule this year.”

Who has had the biggest impact on your football career and why?

“My dad, because he has been there to support me.”

Do you have a favorite quote?

“Nobody cares, work harder.”
