Rhett Foster had a breakout junior season for the Smithville Warriors as a key part of an offense that averaged 33.5 points per game finishing 10-3 overall while reaching the Missouri Class 4 semifinals. The 6’2″, 170-pound, speedster has a blazing 4.45 time in the 40-yard dash. That speed paired with amazing catching ability and athleticism was utilized as a dynamic playmaker seeing him run past his opponents and catching any ball thrown in his direction. Foster also plays with great toughness and intensity.

This Class of 2022 recruit is working hard at camps to show off his skills and ability including attending a Six Star Football camp on Dec. 6.  It’s only a matter of time before his recruiting process takes off. Helping his recruiting process, Foster is not only a star on the gridiron but also on the basketball and track teams and he currently holds a 3.88 GPA in the classroom.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Rhett to talk about his junior season at Smithville and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview

Rhett, how would you grade your individual performance during your junior season?
I would grade my junior season at an A-minus. I didn’t have any fumbles and only a couple of drops. I also made some plays on crucial fourth downs that helped my team when they needed it. Our team had great chemistry. I didn’t give the season an A because after being so close, we didn’t make it to the state championship.

Which would you say was your best game and why?
I would have to say the first game of the season against Grain Valley was my best game overall. I had 125 yards and three touchdowns. On the first touchdown of my junior year, I had a pretty fantastic diving catch in the end zone. We didn’t end up winning that game against the 5A district champs, but it really showed what potential our young team had for the year.

What are your strengths on the football field?
I would say my biggest strengths on the football field is my athleticism. I am really fast and have a great vertical. It helps me be able to get the 50/50 balls. I am strong at running routes and can get extra yards after the catch. I used to be a running back so I think that helps me.

Did you receive any individual honors?
So far the only individual honor I’ve been notified of is second-team All-Conference. They haven’t released our district and state awards yet.

What kind of offensive scheme does Smithville run?
Pro-style.

How do your skills fit into this offense?

I think my skills suit our offense pretty well. I can help us convert on a deep ball on third down but I’m also good at short passes and catching balls in the end zone.

How would you describe what kind of player you are?
I’m the kind of player that is determined to win. I will do whatever it takes to help my team and I always stay positive and believe we can do it.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?
4.45. I ran this on Dec. 6 at the Six Star Combine.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?
As far as my style of play I don’t really have an NFL player that I model my game after. But I would like to think my attitude, effort, and integrity could match up to a player like Drew Brees.

How would you describe what kind of teammate you are?
I am the type of teammate that does my part to help our team. I celebrate my teammates’ successes and I think my teammates know they can always count on me.  I’m a quiet leader.

What do you like most about playing at your high school?
The thing I like most about playing at Smithville high school is the guys on my team. I grew up with these kids in a small town and we have a lot of history together. We have a great community that really gets behind us and gets excited about everything we do.

Do you play any other sports in high school?
I’m a small forward on the basketball team and I run sprints, hurdles, and do jumping events on the track team.

What is your favorite subject in school and why?
Chemistry, because I’ve always enjoyed Science.

What is your GPA?
3.88.

What are your goals for the offseason?
Since I am a three-sport athlete my off-season will be really busy. I’m hoping to accomplish a lot in my other sports. But as far as football goes, I hope to put on some more weight and get stronger. I’d also like to get involved in some 7 v 7 if time allows.

Are you receiving interest from any colleges?
Truman State and Lyon College.

Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
My mom has always taught us to do everything to the best of our ability since God blessed us with our talents. So I think Colossians 3:23 is a good verse for me, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”

Thank you for your time.
Thank you, sir.
