It was another great week in Missouri Class 5 football as teams battled for a spot in the third round. Two of the more exciting games was when Park Hill squeaked past Liberty North 10-7 and Fox beat Poplar Bluff 27-21.

There were also three teams including Pattonville, Fort Zumwalt North, and Staley that shutout their opponents and have some extra momentum going into this weekend.

Of the 16 teams remaining in the bracket, there are many stars that are trying to lead their squad to the quarterfinals. These great players include Chaminade defensive back Roderick Campbell (Northwestern), Fort Osage quarterback Skylar Thompson (Kansas State), Nixa kicker/quarterback Logan Tyler (Florida State, Nixa tight end Chase Allen, Park Hill defensive back Davion Tyler and running back Matt Harris, Battle defensive ends Plais Dow and Jerrion Nelson and linebacker Darion Hall.

Some must watch third round games this Friday include Truman at Fort Osage and Park Hill at Staley as Fort Osage and Staley are on a collision course to meet in next round after their regular season game went into overtime eventually won by Fort Osage, 17-14.

It will be exciting to see which eight teams grab a spot in the quarterfinals and take one step closer to state.
