Missouri High School Football Week 3 Preview

Written by Charlie Beuttel

Liberty North @ Kearney
Kearney has only given up an average 14.5 points a game through the first two weeks of the season. The Bulldogs will seek to continue their trend of a lockdown defense when they host the Eagles who have only scored 20 total points through their first two games of the season.

Liberty North’s offense is led by senior running back Myquan Powell. Powell will try and break through the Bulldog’s defensive unit led by senior linebacker Cale Garrett.

Kearney’s offense, led by senior quarterback Logan Hinck, has scored an average of 52 points a game so far in the season. Hinck has thrown for six touchdowns so far this season. This is a game Kearney must win if they want to make another deep run into the playoffs like they have in the past two seasons.

Lee’s Summit @ Fort Osage

This is a battle of two undefeated teams as the Tigers travel to Independence to battle the Indians. Lee’s Summit is led by their junior dual-threat quarterback Dalton Hill who has completed over 60 percent of his passes and averages over four-yards per carry.

Fort Osage also has a great quarterback in senior Skylar Thompson, who scored four touchdowns last week.

If the Tigers can score some points against the tough Indians defense then this game will be closer than most people think.

Winnetonka @ Lee’s Summit West
Winnetonka was shutout last week 14-0 against an improved Lee’s Summit North team. This week will be another tough game for the Griffins as they travel to face the Titans.

Lee’s Summit West is undefeated in the young season and will want stay on the winning track as they work on improving from last season. The key battle in this matchup will be whether or not the Griffins defense, which has only given up 15 points a game so far, can stop the Titans offense, which has scored over 30 points in both their games so far.
