Blue Springs South 27, Blue Springs 24
For the first time in seven years, the Jaguars defeated their rival and dropped to Wildcats to 0-3 on the young season. With the win, Blue Springs South is still undefeated in the new season.

With a 24-16 lead and 3:36 left in the game, the Jaguars suffered a scare when starting quarterback Noah Nigro was knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury and backup Cale Conners answered the call. Conner led his team on a drive to put the game out of reach which included a 53 yard strike to wide receiver Rickey Nichols.  Jake Roark then kicked a field goal to give Blue Valley South the 27-16 lead.

Blue Springs made it interesting with a late touchdown when Dylan Cowling hooked up with tight end Tanner Taula with 1:17 left in the game but it was too little too late for the Wildcats.

Next week, Blue Springs to St. Joseph Central while Blue Springs South hosts Raymore-Peculiar.

Fort Osage 28, Lee’s Summit 14
Indians quarterback Skylar Thompson once again proved that he is the true leader of this team. Thompson, a Kansas State commit, finished 18 for 22 and threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score.

Running back Bailey Williamson accounted for the other touchdown as he scored on a 17 yard run in the third quarter.

Lee’s Summit’s offense was led by quarterback Dalton Hill as he accounted for both touchdowns, one in the air to senior Zach Mitchell and one on the ground.

In Week Four, Fort Osage will host North Kansas while Lee’s Summit hosts Lee’s Summit North.

Liberty North 21, Kearney 10
For the first time in program history, the Eagles took down the Bulldogs. Things weren’t going Liberty North’s way as they trailed 10-0 but then quarterback Michael Wansing took over.
Wansing led the Eagles on two touchdown scoring drives in the third quarter.

The first touchdown was scored on a 10-yard pass from Wansing to Matt Long. Liberty North took the lead on a three yard run by Devon Davis late in the third. Senior Mitchell Miller clinched the game with a 23 yard pick six in the fourth quarter.

Next week, Liberty North hosts Staley while Kearney travels to Raytown South.
