The Tigers gained a prized recruit while taking one away from a SEC East foe when cornerback Adam Sparks committed on Christmas Day.

Sparks played his way into being a highly touted Louisiana corner with Dutchtown High School. The Griffins went 4-7 in 2016 with Sparks recruitment continuing even after a June 27 verbal to Vanderbilt. Sparks took an official to Wake Forest (Dec. 3) and then took one to Missouri on Dec. 10. The visit to Columbia got Sparks thinking about a change.

On Dec. 16, the 6-0, 170 pound, playmaker decommitted from the Commodores publically announcing the Tigers on Dec. 25. Sparks posted a statement on Twitter:

In addition to beating out Vanderbilt for Sparks, the Tigers also beat out reported offers from Wake Forest, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Colorado State, Southern Illinois, Louisiana-Monroe, Jackson State, SMU, Purdue, and UTSA.

The Tigers’ 2017 recruiting class is back to 20 commits with Sparks. On Dec. 14, Southwest High School (Fort Worth, TX) wide receiver Roderick Ford decommitted.

247Sports rates Mizzou’s 2017 class No. 37 in the country, No. 12 in the SEC. Rivals thinks higher of Missouri’s class rating them No. 31 overall with one four-star recruit, athlete DaRon Davis.
