An early April visit to Raliegh for Jivan Baly has led to a late-June verbal commit to the Wolfpack. The three-star talent out of Meadowcreek (Norcross, Ga.) took an official visit to NC State over the weekend promptly announcing he was going to make his commitment public even before wrapping up the trip. How the pairing came together and how the commitment went down was covered by Baly.

Baly shared how the recruiting relationship with the Wolfpack took place over time.

“Recruiting was long a process,” Baly stated. “It has been a lot of them visiting me and me visiting them just making sure to stay locked in.”

The early visit to Raliegh was a difference maker.

“My first visit there, I fell in love with it instantly; I’m not going to lie,” Baly said. “My parents love it there too. So since then, it has been NC State.”

Wolfpacks corners coach Brian Mitchell sees Baly as the ideal player for their defense.

“The funny thing during the OV, coach Mitch was showing my film along with his current players’ film; we were playing alike. He was saying that’s why he’s been on me for so long cause I fit perfectly in the scheme.”

With his parents present, Baly committed to NC State head coach Dave Doeren.

“I committed to the staff when me and my folks had the sit-down talk with the head man (Doeren),” Baly shared. “I told him this is home for me.”

The “home feel” got some extra positive energy after the verbal pledge.

“The moment (I committed) it was like a different vibe in Raliegh, for real,” Baly said.

Baly is the tenth player to commit to NC State in the 2024 recruiting cycle.
