Nevada Class of 2016 DE/OG Tyler Roemer grabbing national recruiting interest

On the practice field at Fernley High School a future collegiate all-conference caliber player has been molded into a two-way star for a larger fan base to appreciate once the 2016 recruiting class begins to matriculate onto college campuses nationwide.

The Vaqueros have a unique talent blessed with size, strength, and speed in Tyler Roemer. Roemer is now 6’7”, a solid 283 pounds, and tore it up against opposing Nevada high school offenses and defenses earning First-Team All-State Defense, Second-Team All-State offense, First-Team All-Region for both offense and defense honors at the end of his junior season playing defensive end/defensive line and offensive guard.

With Roemer entering his senior season college recruiters are starting their heavy evaluation of the two-way star with teams like Kentucky, Louisville, Utah, and local rising powerhouse University of Nevada luring him to their campus for one-day camps.

We sat down with Tyler in a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview to go over his offseason workout schedule, get an inside glimpse on how his recruiting is shaping up, and got the lowdown on his college camp circuit schedule.

Tyler, you wrapped up a great individual season earning All-State honors on both sides of the ball. What are you doing in the offseason to get bigger, stronger, and faster for the 2015 season?

“Me and a group of my friends go into the weight room everyday and lift then we do footwork drills. We do a workout we got from our coach. Out on the field we do several reps and finish it off with a 40 (yard dash).”

Have you maxed out on bench and squat lately, and if so what numbers have you hit?

“My bench is at 300 pounds and my squat is at 460.”

What camps are you going to over the summer?

“I went to Eastern Oregon’s camp. They recruit our school pretty heavily. Their coach likes me a lot. Thursday was Louisville, then Kentucky’s camp, and after that a Utes camp. Then I’m going to UNR’s (Nevada-Reno) Rising Star Camp.”

Which schools are showing heavy interest in you right now?

“UNR, Louisville, SDSU (San Diego State), some junior colleges, a lot of D-II and D-III colleges, and Cornell along with Olaf.”

Do you plan on taking any unofficial visits over the summer?

“I doubt it, most likely I won’t.”

Why does UNLV seem to skip recruiting northern Nevada?

“Nevada is divided into the north and south. Even the high schools now-a-days talk smack where all the north teams are joining up against the south teams and vice-versa. Most of the people up in northern Nevada all like UNR.”

Good luck with all of your camps.

“Thank you.”
