Northwestern Secures Commitment from Ohio 2017 QB Andrew Marty

Northwestern went into Ohio on Tuesday landing their quarterback of the future when Andrew Marty verbally committed to the Wildcats.

Marty helped Wyoming High School (Cincinnati) to an 8-3 record in 2015 running a spread offense. Most of Marty’s passing attempts were in the shotgun out of the spread showing a strong arm, solid fundamentals keeping his head up down field as pressure closes in, and quickness in the pocket to escape pressure keeping plays alive.

Recruiting for Marty has been under the radar thus far. The Ohio native committed to Miami of Ohio on March 29. On April 25, the 6’3.5”, 200 pound, gunslinger received an offer from Northwestern. The next day Marty’s commitment to Northwestern went public. Marty’s other offer came in from Western Michigan.

Marty made his announcement on Twitter posting, “DREAMS to REALITY!!! #B1GCats.” The post was accompanied with a statement:

Northwestern now has 12 verbal commitments to their 2017 recruiting class. The Wildcats have pulled from five different states dipping heavily thus far into Texas and Ohio. The early emphasis in the class has been on defense with eight commitments so far.
