Still wide open in his recruiting process, teams are impacting Justin Thurman’s (6-0, 185) process early. Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Iowa, Kansas, and Notre Dame have seen the four-star running back on their hallowed grounds this offseason with each leaving their imprint. Before the summer days turn into fall practices, the Tampa Jesuit (Fla.) talent has two more key stops on the itinerary.

The 2025 prospect gave a rundown of his college camp circuit.

“I camped at Tennssee, Florida, Auburn, Notre Dame, and then I headed up to Alabama for another camp,” Thurman stated. “It was a pretty heavy camp circuit, but it was all good. Everything was great.”

The Fighting Irish got to see all the Thurman can do for a collegiate offense.

“I believe I did great at all the camps, but I believe I showcased what I can do well at Notre Dame,” Thurman shared. “I showed what I can do and what I can contribute to a team at the next level.”

Thurman is headed to Tuscaloosa on a mission.

“I wanted to show them that I am a versatile player capable of playing multiple positions,” Thurman said. “I wanted to show them that I can catch the ball out of the backfield in addition to being a violent runner. I also wanted to show that I am a great teammate too; that is important. I wanted to show them that I am a person who is always hungry, always looking to grind, and ready to work.”

On Sunday, Thurman returns to South Bend. The rapport between player and coaching staff was detailed.

“It is great, and it is growing,” Thurman shared. “Notre Dame is impressive, and not just in terms of football and their atmosphere, but academics as well. Notre Dame is a very prestigious school overall. They have a great environment, and they are doing great things there.

“Coach (Marcus) Freeman, I feel he is taking the program in the right direction, in an even better way. They are doing great things there and I am looking forward to learning more about them.”

After his July visit, Notre Dame may see Thurman again this fall.

“I haven’t finalized my schedule yet, but I want to take one to Notre Dame; I’m not sure for which game yet,” Thurman stated. “I want to go back up to see that game-day atmosphere. I’d also like to see a game at Tennessee. Even though it was only their spring game, there were 50 to 60,000 fans there. It was pretty impressive how many fans were at Neyland Stadium.”

Two-way communication is ongoing with 20 of the teams to offer Thurman, but a few are making stronger contact for now.

“I am in good communication with Kansas, Tennessee, Rutgers, Florida, and Notre Dame; those are the main ones I have great communication with overall,” Thurman said. “All the schools that I have offers from, I am staying in contact with them.”
