A top schools list of Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, Michigan, Alabama, and Florida was narrowed down with the Bulldogs on top on Jan. 13. Once 2024 prospect were able to take official visits, Jaylen Heyward decommitted from Georgia on July 18 after paid for stops with the Bulldogs, Knights, and Hurricanes.

The 43-offer Rockledge (Rockledge, Fla.) four-star safety covers his official visits with an update on his overall recruiting process.

BREAKDOWN

Georgia: June 9-11

“It was a good visit; my family and I had a great time. I enjoyed visiting with the coaches, and getting to see on an everyday basis how they work.”

UCF: June 16-18

“It was good. It was the first time all their official visitors were staying at Universal; it was a great trip. They took us to the Hard Rock; the food was great throughout the whole visit. Coach Gus Malzahn was with me and my family the whole time. He was showing me why he wanted me to stay home and be a hometown hero.

“He was telling me about the big time DBs he’s coached and the big-time players like Cam Newton that he’s coached. He talked about the natty (national championship) he won, and he talked about his background in coaching.”

Miami: June 23-25

“Miami was good. I sat down with coach (Jahmile) Addae (DB); he coached at Georgia. He knows about coach (Kirby) Smart. He was talking about him going to the league. Coach (Mario) Cristobal is family orientated. Coach (Lance) Guidry, their defensive coordinator, is one of the craziest coaches I have met. He is a loving and caring guy.”

Three teams have welcomed Heyward to campus with more than a handful of teams actively recruiting him.

“I have a couple of schools that have my interest,” Heyward shared. “USC, Michigan, Clemson, Oregon, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Colorado.”

No other official visits have been planned at this time. Asked if there was a timetable for his commitment, Heyward replied, “I have no clue.”

When the decision is made, Heyward has his criteria set.

“It will be based on the best relationships, who is recruiting me the hardest, and who is showing me love,” Heyward said.
