Verbally committed to Ole Miss in late August, on Oct. 29 Trever Jackson (6-2.5, 190) got back out on the recruiting trail to explore his options. With the new status, the four-star signal caller from Jones High School (Orlando) has been fielding official visit offers lining up his schedule as his squad enters the playoffs.

Being tied to the Rebels’ class, Jackson stayed in the central Florida area this fall working with his new Tigers’ teammates on a state championship run. That is all about to change.

“I am taking some visits coming up,” Jackson said. “I will probably visit Maryland and Oklahoma.”

Asked the official or unofficial status of the trips, Jackson replied, “I think they will be officials. Maryland is for sure. With Oklahoma, I will have to see.”

As soon as Jackson was free to roam again, the Terrapins did not waste time pushing the rapport forward.

“Soon as I opened my recruiting up, I have been in contact with them,” Jackson shared. “Coach JT, James Thomas (OLB), he is recruiting my area; he’s always been in good contact with me.”

Jackson was asked about his relationship with other members of Maryland’s coaching staff.

“I talk to coach (Kevin) Sumlin (TE), coach (Michael) Locksley, and their offensive coordinator, coach (Josh) Gattis. My relationship with them is pretty cool. I have visited before; they know me. I have always been in contact with them, and them with me.”

Over in Norman, the line of communication has been directly to the top.

“I texted coach (Brent) Venables after I opened my recruitment up,” Jackson stated. “He was talking to me about the situation at OU, and we talked about everything else.”

Holding over 30 offers, there may be more opportunities ahead to take official visits.

UCLA has reached out, UNLV, FAU, Louisville, Michigan State, Virginia, and there are a couple more,” Jackson said.

On the decommitment from Ole Miss, that bond is still solid between player and coaching staff.

“Jaxson Dart is staying for another year, that pushed everything back,” Jackson shared. “Coach told me it would be a long time until I touch the field there, I want to make an impact sooner than later. They are not mad at me. My offer is still good with them. They want me to find that place to make an impact early.”

Leading into Jackson’s August commitment, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and UCLA were among his top schools.
