For the first time since 2014 the Irish of Dublin Scioto appeared in the playoffs, and this time on the arm of quarterback Amare Jenkins. During his junior campaign, the 6’3″, 175-pound, slinger threw for 1,905 and 17 touchdowns aiding in a 7-2 record. Jenkins has a strong and accurate arm to make all passes needed within the offense. He also good athleticism and footwork to escape pressure in the pocket and plays with great leadership.

The Class of 2022 recruit is currently receiving interest from big-time college programs all over the country including Ohio State, Penn State, and Washington State. Not only is Jenkins a star on the gridiron but also in the classroom where he currently holds a 3.8 GPA.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Amare to talk about his junior season and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview

Amare, how would you grade your performance during your junior season?
I would grade myself a B, as I led my team to the playoffs for the first time since 2014. I made first team All-District but there are many more things I want to accomplish such as winning state.

What would you say was your best game and why?
I would say my best game was against Canal Winchester. I led my team back from a 21-point deficit to win the game. I was 18-22 with two touchdowns.

What are your strengths on the football field?
I would say my biggest strength is being a leader and reading and picking apart a defense.

How would you describe what kind of player you are?
I’m the type of player that will do anything it takes to win a game.

How would you describe what kind of teammate you are?
As a quarterback, I try to be the biggest servant on the team. I always put my teammates first.

What kind of offensive scheme does Dublin Scioto run?
We run a spread offense.

How do your skills fit into this scheme?
I can make good decisions and accurate throws.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?
I try to model my game after Deshaun Watson.

Would you consider yourself a dual-threat or pro style quarterback?
I would consider myself as a balanced quarterback. I tend to stay in the pocket but I am capable of running as I currently run a 4.6 in the 40.

What do you like most about playing at Dublin Scioto?
I love playing for our coaches, and our fan base is very supportive. And I love playing with my teammates whom many of them I grew up with.

Do you play any other sports in high school?
I’m on the track team.

What is your favorite subject in school and why?
History, because I find it interesting.

What is your GPA?
3.8.

What is your ACT score?
I’m scheduled to take the ACT in March 2021.

What are your goals for the offseason?
I’m working hard to get bigger, stronger, and faster.

Who has had the biggest impact on your high school career?
My parents are the biggest impact on my high school career, because they are helping me pursue my dream.

Are you receiving interest from any schools that haven’t offered you yet?
Ohio State, West Virginia, Penn State, Cincinnati, Yale, Harvard, Rutgers, Kansas, and Washington State.

Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
My favorite Bible Verse is Psalm 46:1-3, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains for all into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”

Thank you for your time.
Thank you, sir.
