Ohio State Adds Texas 4-Star JUCO CB Kendall Sheffield to 2017 Class

Ohio State continued their run on top available talent securing a verbal commitment on Tuesday from Blinn College cornerback Kendall Sheffield.

The Buckeyes added one of the top junior college corners in the nation in Sheffield. The former Alabama Crimson Tide signee was lauded for his cover skills and blazing speed out of high school earning five-star status. The former USA Today All-American (2014) was credited with 31 tackles, 11 passes defended, two picks, two forced fumbles, and a punt return for a touchdown during the 2016 season with Blinn.

The recruiting process for Sheffield was fairly tight considering his high school background and former status with the Crimson Tide. The now four-star rated talent had reported offers from Texas, USC, Texas A&M, and TCU taking official visits to the Horned Frogs (Dec. 2) and Aggies (Dec. 9). The Buckeyes hosted the 5-11, 183 pound, recruit on an official for the Michigan game on Nov. 26.

Sheffield has helped push OSU’s recruiting class to the top of the rankings per 247Sports. Ohio State has the No. 2 rated recruiting class in the nation by Rivals with six five-star recruits and 11 four-star prospects out 19 verbal commitments.
