Memphis lost a big potential playmaker on the outside on Thursday morning when 2017 wide receiver Nick Robinson decommitted.

Robinson had a big junior season hauling in 40 passes for 713 yards with 12 touchdowns for Putnam City West High School. The Patriots are off to a 6-2 start to their 2016 season with Robinson helping lead the way.

The Tigers earned Robinson’s commitment on June 15. The list of other suitors is long, topping the 20 mark, which includes Arizona State, Houston, Mississippi State, Louisville, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Texas-San Antonio, Iowa State, Baylor, Arizona, Arkansas State, and Texas A&M. In September, Robinson took an official visit to Central Florida coming away impressed.

Robinson posted his decision on Twitter with a statement:

Due to Robinson’s size, listed between 6-3, 205, and 6-4, 201, some schools see him as a wide receiver while others as a tight end. Rivals rates Robinson as a four-star recruit and one of the top players in Oklahoma.

Memphis now has 23 verbal commits to their 2017 recruiting class. Rivals ranks the group as the 28th best in the nation while 247Sports rates the class No. 37 overall, No. 2 in the AAC.
