Oklahoma’s 2016 recruiting class is getting closer and closer to completion. The class got a big win and a big possession receiver on Sunday flipping Zach Farrar from Mississippi State.

The Sooners have had their share of ups and downs on the recruiting trail but have started to turn it on during crunch time. Over the weekend they landed former 4-star Michigan offensive line commit Erik Swenson and then did quick work with Farrar luring him away from the Bulldogs.

Farrar (6-3, 210) took an official visit to Starkville on Jan.  15, a big recruiting weekend for the Bulldogs, and then committed on Jan. 21. Three days later, Oklahoma extended an offer, set up a coaches’ visit for Jan. 27, and then persuaded Farrar to head to Norman for an official visit. The Texas native visited the OU campus on Jan. 29, decommitted on Jan. 31 from MSU, and promptly verbally committed to Oklahoma.

College coaches took notice of Farrar in 2015 after he hauled in 56 passes for 1,114 yards with 19 touchdowns for Carroll High School. Farrar had over 20 offers come in from teams like Maryland, BYU, Iowa, Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech, Boston College, and Nebraska.

The Sooners now have 19 verbal commitments with two full days before everything culminates on the Feb. 3 National Signing Day.
