The Sooners are starting to heat up the recruiting trail after being quiet for long stretches of time during a tremendous 2015 college football season. Oklahoma is in position to recruit from door-to-door across the country being in the college football playoffs and did just that on Monday landing Washington D.C. area 3-star wide receiver Parnell Motley.

Motley, listed at 6’1”, 180 pounds, has been a two-way star for Woodson High School making a name for himself at both wide receiver and cornerback. Motley helped the Warriors to an 8-5 season in 2015 keeping recruiting interest in his skill set rising throughout the year despite a June 27 commitment to Maryland.

The schools extending offers to Motley include Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Rutgers, North Carolina, Michigan State, Miami, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Michigan among others. The Sooners hosted Motley on Dec. 11 with many Maryland fans fearing the worst was about to happen. On Dec. 19, Motley decommitted from the Terrapins committing to the Sooners on Dec. 21.

Motley made his commitment official on Twitter posting, “I would like to announce that I am now committed to the university [sic] of Oklahoma.”

Oklahoma now has 15 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class. The momentum on the recruiting trail looks like it is starting to pick up. On Dec. 18, the Sooners landed 4-star defensive tackle Chris Daniels out of Trinity High School in Euless (TX). Daniels is a highly regarded recruit with offers from Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan, Baylor, Alabama, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, and Ole Miss.
