The California junior college ranks are stacked full of great football talent. On Monday, Oklahoma swooped into the Golden State pulling out one of the more talented players in the 2017 class in receiver Marquise Brown.

Brown was part of a College of the Canyons team that average 25.8 points per game and 229 yards per contest in the air. Brown is credited with 50 receptions on the year covering 754 yards with 10 touchdowns.

Colleges have been on Brown since his high school days in Hollywood, Florida. His offer sheet was approaching 20 when he committed to the Sooners. Among the many hopefuls wanting his talent on their roster next season included Arizona State, TCU, Washington State, Oregon, North Carolina, Nebraska, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, Cal, and USC.

Brown posted his announcement on Twitter Monday afternoon writing, “They Told Me Follow My Heart Committed #SoonerSquad17 #OUDNA.” The announcement was accompanied with a statement:

Oklahoma has picked up a speedy receiver in Brown that can play the slot gaining separation from the nickel or on the outside as a deep vertical threat.

The Sooners’ 2017 recruiting class is ranked No. 4 in the nation by 247Sports, No. 1 overall in the Big 12. Rivals rates the class No. 3 in the nation with 17 of the 22 commits considered four-star talents.
