Oklahoma Sooners Add Three Recruits in Two Days Flipping Two

The Sooners coaching staff has answered the recruiting bell as National Signing Day nears with four verbal commitments this week. Tre Norwood was added last weekend with the Sooners accepting pledges from defensive tackle Tyreece Lott, receiver Ryan Jones, and defensive end Troy James over the past two days.

Lott was the first of the trio to commit announcing his plans on Friday. The 6-3, 255 pound, lineman was a win-win scenario keeping the Ardmore three-star talent in-state while flipping him away from Big 12 foe TCU. The Horned Frogs picked up Lott’s commitment on Dec. 13 but lost him on Jan. 22, two days after an official to Norman.

The addition of Ryan Jones might be the headline grabber of the bunch. Jones, a four-star recruit from Charlotte, committed to in-state power North Carolina on Feb. 5. He kept his options open eventually decommitting from the Tar Heels on Sept. 22. The Sooners publically landed the 6-2, 219 pound, talent on Saturday over 14 other offers.

If Jones is the headline grabber, Troy James is the attention getter. James was well over 20 scholarship offers committing to Arkansas on Nov. 14. The massive 6-4, 275 pound, end was reportedly solid with the Hogs after an in-home visit last week but an official to Oklahoma changed everything for the Baton Rouge are product.

Jones posted his announcement on Twitter writing “Extremely Blessed” with a statement:

Rivals rates Oklahoma’s 2017 class No. 5 in the nation with 18 four-star recruits and eight three-star players. 247Sports rates Oklahoma’s 27 verbal commitments as the seventh best class in the country, No. 1 overall in the Big 12.
