Oklahoma Sooners Secure Texas 3-Star DT Zacchaeus McKinney

The Sooners added their first Class of 2017 defensive tackle recruit on Saturday when Zacchaeus McKinney pledged to Oklahoma.
McKinney (6-4, 300) was part of a Weatherford High School squad that toughed it out through a hard 2-8 season in 2016. The win-loss column did not affect how college coaches perceived McKinney. The first team All-District selection in 2015 had 10 reported scholarship offers extended before committing to the Sooners. The list includes Houston, Texas, Tulane, SMU, Texas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Texas-San Antonio, and Oklahoma State.
The University of Kansas thought they had McKinney wrapped up in mid-November when he committed on the 13th, but by Nov. 22 the Texas talent had decommitted. Offers and interest continued to come in leading to his announced verbal commitment to OU. McKinney posted his decision on Twitter:
The Sooners have the No. 4 ranked recruiting class in the nation per Rivals and 247Sports with 17 four-star talents and five three-star players (Rivals).
