Oklahoma State picked up an under-appreciated mauler along the offensive line on Sunday pulling Derek Kerstetter out of Texas.

Kerstetter lined up on both sides of the line at tackle for Reagan High School during the 2015 season. The Rattlers ran their mark to 11-1 before falling 17-7 in the playoffs to Smithson Valley (Spring Ranch). Kerstetter earned first team All-District 6A honors being a proud finisher of plays routinely pancake blocking linemen and linebackers opening up holes for his running backs and keeping the defense off his quarterback.

Oklahoma State added Kerstetter over offers from Texas Tech, New Mexico, Minnesota, Illinois, North Texas, UTSA, Bowling Green, Kansas, and Houston. The 6’5”, 280-290 pound, San Antonio area lineman posted a statement about his commitment on Twitter:

Derek Kerstetter OSU statement

The weekend was extremely successful for the Cowboys pulling in three verbal commitments. Texas wide receiver Lamarcus Morton kicked off the weekend festivities followed by Texas safety Kris McCune, and then Kerstetter on Sunday. OSU now has 14 verbal commitments to their 2017 class.
