Ole Miss adds First 2017 Recruit Flips Morton WR D.D. Bowie away from Alabama

An ongoing relationship with the University of Alabama was not enough to keep wide receiver D.D. Bowie from flipping his verbal commitment to Ole Miss on Saturday.
Ole Miss picked up a big win on Saturday on the field stopping SEC West foe Texas A&M but also won off the field landing highly regarded in-state talent D.D. Bowie. The 6’1”, 170 pound, speedster jumped on the recruiting scene in 2014 as a sophomore pulling in 41 passes for 945 yards with 11 touchdowns. The Panthers utilized Bowie’s speed on special teams picking up another 445 yards on kick returns scoring 16 total touchdowns.
On defense Bowie helped Morton High School to a 9-4 record coming up with 40 tackles, 2.0 tackles for a loss, one sack, five pass deflections, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and six interceptions with 232 return yards.
The Panthers are 8-2 in 2015 with Bowie expanding his offensive production. Through 10 games the Class of 2017 star has carried the ball 92 times for 676 yards scoring 13 touchdowns and he has pulled down 21 passes for 704 yards with 10 more scores. Teams have not tested Bowie as much on defense this year. The junior has 11 tackles, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one pick.
Colleges have taken interest in Bowie even though he was committed to Alabama. Auburn, Miami, Southern Miss, and Mississippi State along with Ole Miss continued to go after Bowie.
Bowie is the first commitment for Ole Miss’ 2017 recruiting class. The Rebels are nearing a full 2016 class with 19 verbal commitments.
