When No. 4 drops back to pass for Brownsburg (Ind.), there’s some magic happening. The Class of 2027 quarterback still has hurdles and years of development ahead of him, but all the tools are there to be a top prospect when his time comes. The name Oscar Frye (6-1, 158) is one to remember.

Next level and even NFL comparisons are unfair, but Frye attacks the game like a gridiron veteran connecting deep out of the pocket and throwing accurately on the run.

Stats through six games saw Frye complete 72 of 99 attempts for 1,201 yards with 19 touchdowns against just one pick. The production at the lower level has prompted a varsity call up with the Bulldogs where Frye has hit on 6 of 9 attempts for 74 yards with a score.

Frye sat down for an RNG Q&A interview.

Q&A Interview

Oscar, you’ve racked up stats in four games this season, what’s the varsity experience been like for you during your freshman season?

“I am super blessed to have that opportunity. It has been great learning from the players ahead of me and from my coaches, this is something I will never forget. It will have an effect on my future.”

Which levels are you playing for the Bulldogs this year?

“I am playing varsity and freshmen. On our freshmen team, my coaches are keeping me together with the players I will be playing with over the next four years.”

How is your season with the freshmen team going?

“It went really well this season. We had our last game on Saturday. We were solid across the board. We were getting better each week finishing 9-0. We were super dominant. I am looking forward to the next couple of years with these guys.”

Tell me about the Bulldogs’ offensive scheme.

“It is balanced. We spread the table across the field. We like taking shots downfield. We are strong across the board with a lot of options in each game. Our offense is a Spread; we are never under center. The offense is all out of the gun. We go five wide and pick the defense apart.”

What are the traits to your game allowing you to be successful on the field?

“The consistency. The consistent work with my receivers and the team. We are working to become better as a whole. The connection with the receivers is helping the team. We get extra reps after practice, that helps our success on the team. That will help us as we go into state.”

What are you constantly working on in practice and during games as a QB?

“Timing is crucial with receivers. Some receivers run their routes differently and at different speeds. We are working to be successful. We are fluid with our concepts and how we run them, that has been important.”

The Bulldogs are 9-0 crushing teams throughout the season. What’s the feel and vibe on the team ahead of the Ben Davis (8-1) game (Oct. 27)?

“We are super confident in ourselves. With the bond that we have, we are together as a family. I truly believe, we all believe, we can win a state championship this year.”

Have college teams started showing recruiting interest in you already?

“Over the summer, a couple of schools started showing interest. We had a team camp over the summer, we played in a 7-on-7 tournament; Illinois is one of the main ones. Cincinnati is another major one. Ball State has also shown interest. I have gone up there a couple times to experience the game days. Wabash and Butler are also showing interest.”

Which other schools have you visited this fall on Saturdays?

“Wabash, Butler, and I am going to Indiana Wesleyan coming up.”

From all the visits, what have you learned being there live watching the different teams?

“The major part is the atmosphere, the vibe of the team, and the coaching staff. It is cool to notice the differences among different schools. The locker room is another, how everyone acts and the bond they may have. Another thing is academics, I value that highly. Strong academics, what they have to offer, is important to me.”
