Preparation meeting opportunity will be the name of the game for Class of 2021 running back Jaelin Moore during the 2020 season. The soon-to-be senior missed a chunk of his junior season with a broken thumb putting a greater emphasis on the upcoming campaign. On the upside, the 5-10, 205-pound, Roosevelt High School (Eastvale) back has been putting in triple-time with his workouts this spring playing 7v7 ball with Ground Zero while working out with a private running back coach and with his Mustangs squad at school. All adds up to what should be a breakout season for Moore come this fall.

After seeing Moore at the Pylon 7v7 Tournament in Santa Ana (CA), and his recruiting interest rising after visits to Arizona and Arizona State, he steps into the RNG Lab for a one-on-one interview.

Interview

Jaelin, when the 2019 season ended, what did you feel were the strengths to your game as a running back?

“I got stronger, as a running back that improved my game. My field vision improved as well. I could better see where I needed to go.”

What was the offensive set you were running with Roosevelt last season?

“Spread.”

How were the coaches getting the ball in your hands?

“Inside zone runs – run up the middle mainly.”

What have you been working on this offseason as a running back?

“Right now, I’m working with TNT and I have a personal running back coach. I have been working a lot on my speed and on my blocking; that is important for me to protect my QB. My hand-offs, I have not fumbled in three years, and I want to make sure I never fumble.”

Are you playing any new positions during the 2020 season?

“No. I’m fully at running back.”

Over the weekend, you were playing in the Pylon Tournament with Ground Zero. How did that tournament go for you?

“It went well. I had three touchdowns off five or six catches; I did well.”

Are you taking the skills to any camps this offseason?

“Next month I am going to an Oregon State camp and I plan on going to camps at Sacramento State and BYU.”

Which schools are showing recruiting interest?

“BYU, Oregon State, Sacramento State, and some from Arizona State, Air Force, and Coach Walker from Penn State.”

Once everything gets back to normal, are you planning on taking any visits?

“There was a planned Junior Day at BYU and one for Oregon State.”

Jaelin, thanks for your time today and good luck with the rest of your offseason workouts.

“Thank you.”
