If you didn’t know anything about Maddox Twigg (6-1.5, 185) other than he was a quarterback, after watching his 2023 season film you’d think he’s been a three-year varsity starter. Plays Twigg makes on the field are beyond his 2028 classification. From the simple drop and release to escaping and throwing on the run, Twigg has a full arsenal of weapons in the pocket making him a must-see going forward.

The words may not impress, but the tape does. Working the field with Frankfort Middle School, the Ridgeley (W.Va.) area talent put on a show during his eighth-grade season.

“We did some Wing T and some Spread,” Twigg stated. “It depended on the team we played and the defense they ran. Passing was probably a better offense for us, it attacked the defense more. When we passed, it would spread the defense and that gave us more options.”

Twigg spoke about his improvements as a QB, “I think I got way better at reading defenses and finding the open receiver.”

Scouts will get to see Twigg’s improvements this offseason at various top camps.

“I am going to a few camps, FBU (Football University) regional camps and FBU Top Gun this summer, and the Next Gen Elite camps,” Twigg shared. “I work with coach (Barry) Thompson and coach (Ray) Isaac from Sniper School. With coach Thompson at the Fairfax Football Academy, we work on escaping the pocket and pocket movements.”

Part of Twigg’s offseason is finding a high school home.

“Based on where I am living, we are looking at schools in the Frankfort area,” Twigg said. “I have a visit with St. Francis on Monday. My family is not sure yet where I will go to high school. We are looking, we haven’t decided yet.”

After camping with West Virginia last summer, Twigg’s skills shined prompting a call up to the high school level. The Mountaineers are one of the programs keeping tabs on the rising prospect.
