The offseason spent on the 7-on-7 circuit with Grind Factory and another spring ball turn with Newton High School (Covington, Ga.), Elisha Turner is ready for a showcase senior season this fall. Taking on Georgia 7A squads, the speedy slot receiver will get his chance to be featured in the Rams’ offense once the 2023 season kicks off. Before beginning his final run with Newton, Turner is ready to catch attention this summer at college camps.

The Rams’ offense was explained.

“We run a lot of RPOs (run-pass option),” Turner said. “We have matchups that our coaches like; we target weak defensive backs. We have great receivers; no DB corps will be ready for what we bring.”

Knowledge and ability allows Turner to be a versatile option for his coaches.

“I will mostly be at slot receiver this year, but I know all the positions and all the plays,” Turner stated. “I will play everywhere.”

The offseason grind will show when the gridiron stage is set this fall.

“I have been working on getting out of my breaks, and most importantly blocking for my guys,” Turner shared. “When they catch a bubble, I will block for them. This offseason I am working on my releases, breaks, blocking, and trying to get stronger as well.”

Taking on teams from around the country and throughout the region with Grind Factory, the extra reps have helped Turner improve his game.

“It went well,” Turner said. “We played in a lot of tournaments; I helped my team win by making plays.  In the Myrtle Beach tournament, I scored a lot in that tournament. I scored twice in two games.”

Turner shared where he is seeing the improvements in his game, “My catching, most definitely. I am making tough catches, my blocking, and my route running as well.”

A half dozen camps are already on the schedule for Turner this summer.

“I am going to Troy, Mercer, Georgia State, Auburn, Morehouse, and The Show Showcase,” Turner stated.

Turner has a mission for each camp, “Even though I am not as big as everyone else, I want to showcase that I can make plays and that size doesn’t matter. I want to get my name out there for the recruiting process.”
