Perhaps the conspiracy theories about Seth Green’s transfer from East Ridge High School in Minnesota to Allen High School in Texas can be put to rest now. On Sunday, the Ducks landed two highly regarded recruits in quarterback Tristen Wallace and wide receiver Eddie McDoom but lost long-time commitment Seth Green in the process.

Wallace fell in love with the Buckeyes back in March committing to Ohio State on March 28. The Buckeyes saw the talent in Wallace under center before he was able to truly showcase his abilities. During his junior season Wallace was limited to four games. Still, in four games the true dual-threat had 628 yards passing off 40 completions with six touchdowns and 556 yards rushing off 55 carries with eight scores. During his senior season, the 6’3”, 228 pound, athlete passed for 2,188 yards with 12 touchdowns against eight picks but also ran for 1,401 yards with 17 more scores.

The Buckeyes hosted Wallace on an official on Oct. 17 but the trip evidentially did more to harm than good with Wallace taking an official to UCLA on Dec. 11 and Oregon on Dec. 13. Wallace committed while on his visit to Eugene ending ties with Ohio State. Wallace also had offers from Louisville, Mississippi State, Texas, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Indiana, and Baylor among others.

McDoom had a breakout junior season pulling in 47 passes for 854 yards with 15 touchdowns. During his senior season, West Orange High School posted a 12-2 record making it to the fourth round of the Florida high school football playoffs before falling 35-14 to Osceola. His top schools reportedly were Michigan, Oregon, Kentucky, and Notre Dame. The Winter Garden, Florida area talent had an unofficial visit to Kentucky on Oct. 3 and made an official to Michigan on Dec. 11. Other schools to offer McDoom included Alabama, Texas, South Carolina, Ohio State, Illinois, Clemson, Florida, and Boston College among others.

Wallace heading to Eugene outwardly appears to be the pivot point in Seth Green returning to Minnesota. The 6’4”, 216 pound, dual-threat made a lot of noise when he transferred schools in the offseason. His father reportedly had a job transfer, the underlying reason for moving to Texas but some Minnesota fans thought otherwise. Green committed to Oregon in October of 2014. On Dec. 5, he officially visited Minnesota before committing on Dec. 13.

Green passed for 1,481 yards with 19 touchdowns against seven picks and had 865 yards rushing along with 10 touchdowns on the ground off 99 carries during his senior campaign. Allen High School ended their remarkable undefeated streak in the Texas state championship game losing 23-17 to Westlake after posting a 14-1 season. Green had big shoes to fill coming in behind Texas high school football legend Kyler Murray, a part-time starter for Texas A&M in 2015. Murray went three seasons with Allen without losing a game winning three state championships. Green did play against DeSoto in the second round of the playoffs winning 41-40.

Oregon now has 19 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class. The class is highlighted by 4-star recruits RB Vavae Malepeai, DE Bryson Young, LB Lamar Winston, SS Brady Breeze, LB Darrian Franklin, CB Jared Mayden, and WR Dillon Mitchell.
