Oregon Reaches into Tennessee for 2017 DT Rutger Reitmaier

Oregon is accustomed to going into the south for recruits, typically into southern California, but went into the deep-south on Wednesday landing highly prized defensive tackle Rutger Reitmaier.

Reitmaier has been a force up front for Lipscomb Academy over the past two season coming up with 50 tackles and 11 tackles for a loss as a sophomore. The 6’3”, 270 pound, athlete bested himself with 66 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, and four forced fumbles during the 2015 campaign.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl invitee is in the neighborhood of 20 offers with teams like Arkansas, Duke, Penn State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Purdue, South Carolina, Memphis, Georgia Tech and in-state SEC programs Vanderbilt and Tennessee all after him.

Reitmaier posted his announcement on Twitter, “Blessed to announce I’ve committed to the university [sic] of Oregon #goducks.” The commitment was posted with a quick statement:

Oregon now has four verbal commitments to their 2017 class. Langi Tuifua is the highest rated commitment, a four-star by 247Sports.
