Oxford 2017 CB/WR Talent Tyler Williams Commits to Mississippi State

The Bulldogs continue to recruit the state of Mississippi with great success landing Oxford cornerback/wide receiver Tyler Carmichael-Williams on Monday.

Interest in Williams has grown over the last two seasons after the two-way Lafayette High School talent came up with 27 tackles during his sophomore season along with three interceptions and eight pass breakups. He was able to show his breakaway speed on special teams returning five kicks for 134 yards. During his junior season against 4A competition, Williams helped the Commodores to a 10-3 record pulling in six passes for 209 yards with two scores carrying an amazing 34.8 yard per reception average. On defense, Williams had 25 tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery, and broke up seven pass plays.

Williams made his announcement on Twitter posting, “Proud to say that I’m committed to The Mississippi State Bulldogs. Blessed to be a part of the family! #HailState.”

Teams interested in Williams skill set at the next level includes Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Cincinnati, Louisiana Tech, South Alabama, Tulane, UAB, and Arkansas State.

The Bulldogs now have 13 verbal commitments to their 2017 class with all but two coming from in-state programs. Florida linebacker Tyler Dunning and Louisiana quarterback Keytaon Thompson are the two out of state talents pledged to Mississippi State.
