As teams across the country are about to play their eighth and seventh games of the season, the Pac-12 begins their 2020 college football season on Saturday. After the 2020 season was cancelled on Aug. 11, by Sept. 24, seeing the success of their Power 5 peers, the games were back on along the West Coast. The season will be an oddity for more reasons than one with six games scheduled along with a championship game set for Dec. 18. Once the championship game is set, a seventh game will be rewarded to all other teams.

Perhaps the late start has dampened some enthusiasm among the Associated Press voters for the Pac-12, with only Oregon and USC, ranked No. 12 and 20 respectively, in this week’s poll. Seven conference teams will begin the season minus players due to opt-outs. The hardest hit was Oregon losing starters Thomas Graham, Deommodore Lenior, and Penei Swell. USC was dinged as well losing defensive end Jay Tufele and their best offensive lineman, left tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker.
