For any given recruiting class, when National Signing Day comes pretty much every single player who can sign their National Letter of Intent does so to get the long arduous process over with as soon as possible. When NSD opened and seemingly closed for the 2016 class on Feb. 3, there were a few recruits that took some extra time making their final choice. Maxs Tupai was one of the bigger holdouts seeing the 4-star wide receiver wait until Feb. 24 to make his decision official.

There is still one very big Class of 2016 recruit left unsigned – wide receiver Demetris Robertson.

No matter the recruiting service, Robertson is a 5-star recruit ranked in the Top 25 for the 2016 class. The Savannah Christian Prep star was a U.S. Army All-American Bowl participant picking up nearly 30 scholarship offers leading up to NSD. Down the backstretch, Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech were among the schools seemingly in the running with the Savannah area native taking official visits to Notre Dame (Sept. 4), Cal (Oct. 3), Georgia Tech (Jan. 29), and Alabama (Feb. 26).

New reports may have the scope of the recruiting process narrowed down but still with a red herring twist. Robertson has signed financial aid agreements with Cal and Georgia Tech allowing both schools unlimited contact with him but a SAT score could flip the entire process towards Stanford. Reports from the Atlanta Journal Constitution have the 5-10, 180 pound, speedster needing/wanting 50 more points on his SAT allowing him to be accepted into Stanford.

Robertson became an offensive threat drawing college coaches in near and far in 2014 rushing for 239 yards off 25 carries with six scores (stats through five games) and catching six passes for 155 yards with three additional scores. The Raiders went 9-3 in 2015 with Robertson cementing his talents rushing for 475 yards off 91 carries with five scores while pulling down 12 passes for another 126 yards with one more touchdown in 12 games. On defense he had 41 tackles and picked off two passes. Teams shied away from Robertson on special teams but he still managed 149 kick return yards on four attempts and 145 punt return yards on 10 returns. He ended the season with 13 total touchdowns.
