The 2015 California high school football season is barely past the mid-point of the season but Calabasas (6-1) cornerback/wide receiver Darnay Holmes is already one of the most sought after players in the 2017 recruiting class. The 5’11”, 190 pound, star athlete is already past the 20 scholarships offered mark with the potential to gain more in the offseason, especially if he keeps his recruiting open.

Some of the teams to offer Holmes includes Alabama, Stanford, UCLA, Ohio State, Cal, Clemson, Florida State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Utah, and Michigan. In late July, Holmes released a Top 10 of Alabama, Miami, Notre Dame, Stanford, UCLA, Ohio State, Nebraska, Arizona, Washington, and USC.

The Coyotes suffered their first loss of the year Friday night falling to Camarillo (7-0) 40-39 in an action packed game. Holmes did not disappoint the thousands in attendance making big plays on both sides of the ball including a highlight reel corner of the end zone touchdown catch from fellow Class of 2017 quarterback Tristian Gebbia, one of two on the night. On the season, Holmes now has 19 receptions for 412 yards with three touchdowns. He also has 16 tackles, one tackle for a loss, and four passes defended.

RNG caught up with Holmes after the game to get his thoughts on the heartbreaking loss to Camarillo.
