Q&A Interview with St. John Bosco OT Joe Murphy
Class of 2016 offensive tackle Joe Murphy has been a fixture on the St. John Bosco High School offensive line through a national championship and California state championship in 2013 and a California state runner-up finish in 2014. On the field he is a massive 6’5”, 318 pound, mauler with a punch that keeps defenders off balance and footwork that helps keep his quarterback’s jersey clean, but what is Joe like off the field?
In a follow up interview with Joe, he took time to answer some “getting to know you” questions about pop culture and his favorite sports team.
Q&A
What is your favorite movie: The Godfather trilogy; It relates to me and my family. I’m Cuban, I relate to the story of immigrants coming to the country to achieve the American dream, and how that relates to business.
Favorite actor: Leonardo DiCaprio. The role he played in the Django Unchained and Wolf of Wall Street was amazing.
Favorite TV show: Family Guy, the kid side of me really likes that show.
Favorite type of music: Spanish and hip hop are the main two genres.
Are you fluent in Spanish: I can speak it and sing along.
Who is your favorite musician: Frank Sinatra is my favorite. The way he sang, his purpose, and he had a big part to do with his time period.
Favorite song: Drake’s “How About Now.”
Music you listen to getting hyped before a game or practice: In the weight room we don’t listen to music. Pregame I listen to a lot of hip hop and rap, that gets my blood flowing. Chief Keef is a good one.
What hobbies do you have outside of football: I do not have that much spare time. I workout, go to school, work, do my school work, and go to sleep. If I’m not resting I just hang out with friends and with my grandfather, he’s had a big impact on me.
Automobiles is another one. I love cars. My grandpa owns a repair shop in downtown LA.
Favorite type of food: Pure American, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, and Steak.
Favorite game system: Xbox 1
Favorite game(s): Madden 2015 and NBA 2015, when I have time.
Favorite athlete: Growing up LeBron James (NBA – Cleveland Cavaliers), definitely.
Favorite holiday: Christmas, like 99 percent of the world.
