Watching game film on 2028 quarterback Bryce Puckett, one can already see the unlimited growth ahead. Cool and calm in the pocket, Puckett reads defenses far ahead of his eighth-grade curve exploiting Georgia defenses for Thomas County (Thomasville). When all pieces come together, Puckett will be on college recruiting boards across the country.

Matriculating to Thomas County High School, Puckett was running a version of the Yellow Jackets’ offense during the 2023 season.

“We did a lot of perimeter game, and inside and outside zone,” Puckett said. “We ran a Spread a lot. We liked tight end dumps and seams down the line. We had some athletes this year.”

Puckett continued, “I think my arm strength and my mental aspect of the game improved this season. I was slowing everything down.”

Having that field general mentality is one of Puckett’s strengths.

“My accuracy is one of my best strengths, to be honest,” Puckett shared. “I like to think of myself as a general on the field. I am a leader, but I don’t push others to follow me. Everything is earned not given.”

Developing his game for the high school level is the focus this winter and spring.

“This offseason I am working on a lot of mechanics,” Puckett stated. “When I work out with my trainer, we work on my mechanics. I am working on staying high and leading with my elbow. I am working on accuracy too.”

ACC and SEC interest has already formed for Puckett.

“I’ve visited a couple of colleges” Puckett said. “I just visited Georgia Tech and I have visited Alabama.”

The time in Atlanta was covered.

“It was really fun,” Puckett stated. “It was cool. I liked it a lot. I toured the facilities, saw the locker room, and saw the field. I talked to coach Buster Faulkner, their offensive coordinator. He was really cool. It was a really good opportunity.”

Puckett was in Tuscaloosa before the retirement of one of the game’s all-time greats.

“I saw coach (Nick) Saban, but I didn’t get to meet him,” Puckett shared. “I did a photo shoot, saw the campus and facilities. They have really nice facilities. It was a good time.”

The Yellow Jackets’ high school squad just wrapped a perfect 6A season beating Woodward Academy (49-28) for the state title.
