Quick Q&A Interview with Bentonville Arkansas CB Tyrone Mahone

Written by Ryan Wright

Football is a mentally and physically demanding sport pushing each competitor to their limits game after game, practice after practice. Even those players already recognized for their amazing talents have to overcome unfortunate obstacles in the sometimes brutal sport. One such gifted player dealt an unfortunate hand at the end of the 2014 Arkansas high school football season was Tyrone Mahone.

The recruiting rankings do not fully represent the abilities of the Bentonville High School talent. Mahone has been a starter for the back-to-back state champions since his sophomore year. In 2014 he finished the season with 41 tackles, 22 solo, along with two interceptions, and a forced fumble. The 6’0”, 175 pound, athlete is quick on quick with a reported 4.3 forty-yard dash and an explosive shuttle time of 4.19.

Tyrone gets a big hit

If there was a theme going into Mahone’s senior season one could label it “wait and see.” Despite being one of the best in the state of Arkansas, and in the nation, at the cornerback position a broken ankle in the semifinals of the playoffs has kept college recruiters at bay wanting to see if Mahone can return to top form. Mahone’s lone offer is from Eastern Illinois with Arkansas, Arkansas State, Kansas State, Memphis, Missouri, Navy, Nebraska, and Purdue among the list of those wanting to “wait and see.”

We asked Tyrone all about his football career in a previous interview but wanted to know what the Arkansas athlete was like off the field putting him through our ongoing “getting to know you” Q&A series.
