The Arkansas Razorbacks have a few immediate positions of need that the staff is seeking to replenish through the 2016 recruiting class. One of those positions, for the time being, was diminished by one when Texas linebacker Jordan Carmouche decommitted from the Hogs Sunday night.

Carmouche, listed at 6’1”, 230 pounds, was a steady player for Manvel High School since his sophomore season coming up with 47 tackles and three tackles for a loss in 2013. During his junior campaign, he stepped up the productivity coming up with 57 tackles, six tackles for a loss, and two sacks. Manvel was one of the top teams in the state of Texas in 2015 with Carmouche doing his part ending his career with 60 tackles, one tackles for a loss, and one sack in 12 games played.

The Hogs gained a commitment from Carmouche on Oct. 31 and attempted to flip his running back teammate D’Vaughn Pennamon, a Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl selection and Ole Miss commit, to join him in Fayetteville. Carmouche with 20-plus scholarship offers, continued to take official visits heading to Norman meeting with the Sooners on Nov. 20.

Carmouche took to Twitter Sunday night announcing his decision posting, “After much prayer and consideration I have decided to decommit form the University of Arkansas and open my recruitment back up.”

Some rumors have Carmouche wanting to play running back in college not linebacker despite not registering an official carry during his senior season. Pennamon lead the Mavericks with 1,586 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns off 134 carries.

The Razorbacks now have 16 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class but are expected to push for a full class of 25 by Feb. 3. Carmouche is only the second decommitment for the Hogs in the 2016 class thus far.
