Recruiting: Florida Gators nab verbal from in-state running back

Out of the 2015 recruiting class the Gators picked up two highly nationally prized running backs, Westminster Christian’s Jordan Cronkrite and St. Thomas Aquinas’ Jordan Scarlett. On Friday Florida added a welcomed verbal commitment from stud Class of 2015 tailback Tyrek Tisdale continuing what should be a highly regarded backfield for years to come in Gainesville.

The Oak Ridge High School all-purpose back is widely considered one of the Top 20 running backs in the nation. The Gators have been all over the Orlando area native in the month of March offering him a scholarship on the first, hosting him on Junior Day on March 14, and then hosting him on another unofficial visit the following weekend leading up to his commitment on the March 27.

Tisdale, 6’1”, 198 pounds, picked the Gators over offers from Louisville, Ohio State, Pitt, Rutgers, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Illinois, Cincinnati, and in-state programs South Florida along with rival Miami.

New Florida head coach Jim McElwain is getting a great head start on his second recruiting class already landing eight verbal commitments. The Gators have gone into Miami to steal linebacker Vosean Joseph and Eric Mitchell away from the Canes, taken two key players from Raines High School in Jacksonville, and landed highly recruited IMG Academy safety Spencer Perry.
